Whether people like it or not, the S650 Ford Mustang is the last of the Mohicans regarding V8-powered pony and muscle cars. As such, it attracts a lot of attention everywhere.
People are happy to churn out $31k on the EcoBoost Fastback and even happier spending $42,495 and $59,270 on the GT Fastback or Dark Horse, respectively. In fact, just as we speak, the Blue Oval company pulled the list price from the online configurator for the base Dark Horse – either because of issues with the limited availability or because they're preparing a hike to take advantage of all the customer hype.

All we know is that in 2024, you won't be able to get an all-new Chevy Camaro or a Dodge lined up for a drag or a roll race with the Ford Mustang. Always in line with the latest trends, YouTubers are flocking to the Blue Oval cause, and when they meet, only the occasional C8 Chevy Corvette Z06 can dare to interrupt. Well, at least that's valid for StangMode and his friends like Mike from Street Speed 717 or Derek from DerekBaranProductions.

StangMode's latest additions to his Blue Oval garage are a 'Papa Smurf' S650 Mustang GT and a darker Dark Horse – and since Mike brought his yellow GT, it was only logical for the Dark Horse to arrive on scene at a private airport somewhere in Delaware. There, StangMode brought a few of his YouTuber friends to engage in friendly races and funny conversations – the 2024 Mustang GT and Dark Horse got the heads-up call from a C8 Z06, a Ford F-150 Raptor R, and also a full bolt-on 600-hp S550 Mustang Mach 1 on E85.

If you want to see the brawls with the Raptor R and C8 Corvette Z06, then check out the previous video feature from StangMode. If you are interested in seeing how the stock(ish) Dark Horse fares against the Mustang GT and Mach 1, then it's time to make your acquaintance with Derek and Mike's rides. StangMode's Dark Horse, by the way, has some parts out (like the passenger's seat) and a Drag Pack installed to make it stickier.

However, the Mach 1 is also equipped with meaty Hoosier tires, and both drivers have ample experience nailing the perfect start. The only significant difference between the two is that the Dark Horse has the 10R80 automatic transmission, whereas the Mach 1 relies on the good old stick shift from Tremec. Interestingly, the Dark Horse narrowly won the first dig, but it was only the exception – the second drag was the equalizer for the Mach 1. Then both roll races showed the older S550 can still be superior to the 500-hp Dark Horse… albeit only when using a few tips and tricks!
