The 2024 Ford Mustang was one of the most anticipated vehicles this year. Obviously, that's because of all the improvements made by the Blue Oval company for the seventh generation.
The latest iteration is available from $31k in EcoBoost Fastback form, and you can also have the 315-hp entry-level version as a Convertible or with a Premium trim. If that's not enough and you want to experience the muscle-car-like abilities of a 5.0-liter Coyote V8, the 2024 Mustang GT Fastback starts from $42,495. If up to 486 hp is still not enough, the Dark Horse is also an option with 500 hp from $59,270.
Better hurry, though, as the Dark Horse and Dark Horse Premium feature limited availability due to a combination of high demand and global supply chain constraints. No worries, though, as some people wanted to hedge all bets and didn't bother purchasing one or the other V8-equipped Mustangs. Instead, they took home a piece of both.
YouTuber StangMode's latest additions to his Blue Oval garage are a 'Papa Smurf' S650 Mustang GT and a darker Dark Horse - the latter goes to fend off against odd rivals whenever it can. And when that doesn't happen at the local quarter-mile dragstrip, it occurs during a big YouTuber meeting at the local airfield's airstrip. Just recently, he and some socialite friends organized a little get-together where they would test the abilities of their latest rides.
As such, his Dark Horse had a field of choice – and the YouTuber and amateur racer selected a nice Ford F-150 Raptor R with the 5.2-liter supercharged V8 from the S550 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 packing 700 horsepower and an all-new C8 Chevy Corvette Z06 rocking the mid-engine FPC V8 with 670 ponies. Interestingly, a few surprises came to perspire during these ad-hoc amateur races. However, since there are no electronic aids to confirm their wins, all we have to rely upon are their word and our eyes.
So, first, the Dark Horse went against the 700-hp Ford F-150 Raptor R, and as far as we can tell, after initially falling behind, the Mustang quickly recouped the distance and nailed a surprising victory. On their way back, the pony car and the pickup truck also got into a roll race – but that one was, as expected, aced by the much lighter Mustang Dark Horse.
Next up came the yellow Corvette Z06, looking like a proper supercar next to the Mustang – which is also a lot closer to a veritable sports car than before. Oddly enough, the Chevy also didn't take advantage of its massive power difference, and the Dark Horse again secured the laurels! Unsurprisingly, on their way back, they also performed a roll race, and this time, the Corvette Z06 didn't disappoint anymore. Cool, right?
