The future is here for the American pony and muscle car sector. The Dodges and Chevy Camaro will be no more, and the Ford Mustang S650 will rock the world almost completely alone.
Dodge is giving up on the Hemi V8-powered Challenger and Charger, and no one knows if the former will return for a new iteration. Only the latter is guaranteed with a return to the two-door lifestyle, Banshee EV prowess, and maybe even some 3.0-liter Hurricane straight-six turbo greatness.

Meanwhile, the Chevrolet Camaro will also bow out soon, and no immediate successor is planned. Luckily, General Motors still has a proper sports car, the Corvette C8, which has switched to a mid-engine setup, making it significantly more dangerous to most foes. The Stingray is now seconded by the 670-hp FPC record breaker, the Z06; of course, everyone wants a piece of it.

Even Hennessey, the Texas-based tuner that not only makes every aftermarket dream come true but also has ventured into the world of high-profile hypercar making with the Venom F5, among others – has a Corvette Z06 in the garage. And they're not keeping it idle – instead, they used it to show a couple of customers (a dad and his son, as far as we can tell) that even a supercar-level mid-engine Corvette Z06 can be demolished in a quick race or two!

So, they took out the dark gray C8 Chevy Corvette Z06 on the Pennzoil Proving Grounds, and it was not alone. Instead, the mighty mid-engine supercar had to duke it out with the finest expression of S550 Mustang supremacy, the Shelby GT500. However, build number 66 from Hennessey Performance is no ordinary Shelby GT500. Instead, they took the 760-hp supercharged V8 monster to unlimited levels – all thanks to the Venom 1200 upgrade kit. As it says, that's 1,200 horsepower under the hood and the desire to eat tarmac for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The idea was probably simple – they wanted to show the client how the Venom Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 would perform when taken to the limit, all in the safe confines of a racetrack and with professionals at the wheel. So, they staged a rolling race on the proving grounds' decommissioned quarter-mile dragstrip – one with the father and one with the son in the passenger seat of the Venom 1200 monster.

Of course, it is easy to understand what happened – this was a rolling race between a stock 670-hp Corvette Z06 supercar and a tuned, 1200-hp Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 muscle car. However, it's impossible not to stay glued to the screen and absorb the sights and sounds of the FPC V8 trying to battle the roaring supercharged V8. Naturally, the Venom 1200 won both skirmishes without breaking a sweat and immediately celebrated with a burnout and some quick donuts!
