Ducati XDiavel Piombo-X Is Hardcore as Only a Russian Harley-Davidson Can Be

There are several important and impressive bikes in the Ducati portfolio at the time of writing, but few of them are as visually powerful as the XDiavel. That would be a no-nonsense, unique sport cruiser the Italians are selling in three variants, Nera, S, and Dark, and meant to thrill both rider and onlooker.
From the get-go the XDiavel strikes you as an aggressive two-wheeler, with the exposed twin-cylinder Testastretta engine mounted in the frame right under a fuel tank-seat combo that curves up and down like the waves of the sea.

The bike is so hardcore and close to perfection in terms of design that not many garages venture into altering anything about it, because there's not much that can be bettered. Or so you'd think, until your eyes fall upon the Piombo-X.

That's the name of a Ducati XDiavel customization handled over in Russia by a garage called Box39. The name might seem a bit familiar, as we've featured these guys before, especially thanks to the wonderful work they usually do on Harley-Davidsons.

In fact, the name Piombo (which is the Italian word for lead) crossed our paths before, having been used by Box39 to describe a modified 2018 Breakout they released a while back.

Just like the American bike, the XDiavel goes down the path of extreme customization. Box39 does not share the exact specifications of the changes made, but what was modified is extremely difficult to miss.

It all starts close to the ground, where the stock wheels (perhaps the only not-that-extraordinary thing about the Ducati machine) have been replaced by hardware made in-house, and so opulent it makes your eyes hurt when you stare too much. Especially the one at the rear.

Then we get to see some serious modifications on all other body elements, from the convoluted fender fitted over the front wheel to the protection fitted below the frame and the fuel tank up top.

The entire build has been then covered in a very deep shade of black, darker even than what Ducati is offering on the XDiavel Dark.

We have no info on the cost of the build, or who was the bike made for. Box39 however does say the Piombo-X is part of a series of seven "completely redesigned Ducati XDiavels." We haven't seen any of the others yet, so it's likely the one before us is the first of that series.

Naturally, we'll keep an eye out for when the others come out and tell you all about them. Until then, and before you go, don't forget to have a look at the Piombo-X in the attached gallery. It's something you don't want to miss, especially that incredible rear wheel.
