A man walks into a bar. That’s how many good jokes start, and that’s how today’s challenger to “world’s stupidest story” title starts as well.
Peele Police took to Twitter a few days ago to show the world that, when it comes to being drunk and doing stupid things, one 32-year-old man from Mississauga is king. He’s now facing charges of impaired driving related offenses.
The man, whose identity hasn’t been made public, went out for drinks with pals and he didn’t think that this was good enough a reason to leave his car at home and maybe get a designated driver. At some point in the night, after one drink too many, he and his pals got into a dispute.
The man’s idea of settling it was to drive himself to the nearest police station to prove to his friends that he wasn’t, in fact, drunk. The saying “go home, you're drunk” comes to mind.
To the man’s disbelief, the cop confirmed what his friends must have told him already: he was inebriated and, as such, was in no position to drive. However, by getting himself there by car, he was also stupid and in breach of the law, so they charged him.
“Yesterday, after consuming alcoholic beverages at a bar, a male drove to 12 Division in #Mississauga to prove to his friends that he was not impaired. Turns out he was. A 32 year-old male from Caledon has since been charged with impaired driving related offenses,” the full tweet reads.
One can only imagine the laughs the man’s presence at the police station must have caused. Imagine a man stumbling in, asking to be tested to prove that he’s not drunk, because of a dare. He should have just agreed to the designated driver and went home to sleep it off instead.
