The earth stopped spinning on January 26, 2020, the day Kobe Bryant passed away. He was on board the Sikorsky S-76 helicopter that crashed in Calabasas, California, in heavy fog. Fans of Kobe Bryant are still paying tribute to the late star. And one of them is doing it with a Dodge Charger R/T Scat Pack.
The car belongs to De'Andre Davis, a Lakers fan who has been spending his whole life keeping his fingers crossed each time Kobe Bryant had the ball. At first, his 2020 Dodge Charger R/T Scat Pack featured some elements that would definitely identify the owner as a Bryant fan. But after the death of the all-time leading scorer in Lakers history, widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time, Davis modded his car once again. And this time, the HEMI-powered sedan turned jaw-dropping, impossible to keep a low profile once it started roaming the streets.

And the mods on the Charger R/T Scat Pack are not limited to the visual tweaks. De'Andre Davis chose to remove the mid-mufflers for some more exhaust noise, that would match the looks. He also added a custom powder-coated Bwoody cold air intake. An engine tuning procedure took the output above the standard 485 horsepower that the model rolls off the assembly line with.

There were three stages of the conversion. At the end of the third, which started in 2022, the car looked just like you see it in the photo gallery. De'Andre went out of his way and all in. The car now shows up in a light blue - purple color combo with a lightning pattern, with Kobe’s Mamba logo glued to the front doors and his jersey numbers on the rear doors. The player’s autograph shows up on the rear quarter panels.

Kobe Bryant's famous quote, "Once you know what failure feels like, determination chases success," is written on the trunk lid, together with a picture of two of his jerseys from the Lakers.

An aftermarket rear diffuser, a rear window spoiler, blacked-out taillights, light blue-painted calipers, and custom headlights round up the look of the Charger.

If you think that the less visible places of this car were left as they were, you are wrong. The strut tower caps, the fuse box cover, coolant tank cover, and windshield washer fluid tank cover have all been covered in purple and yellow, while the Mamba logo and badges have found room in the underhood area.

Predictably, the cabin continues the exterior theme. There is a carbon fiber steering wheel in purple and blue, while the instrument cluster and the infotainment screen are finished in Laker's colors. The same blue and purple marble/lightning design extends to the center console and armrest.

There are Kobe's jersey numbers on each of the front seat headrests, and the floor mats display a similar pattern. In the trunk, there is a mural of Kobe Bryant standing before the gates of Heaven, as shown by Dodge Garage.

De’Andre Davis travels across the country to gather trophies. He's got 17 of them in 2023 alone for the latest design of his Dodge Charger R/T Scat Pack. He has to thank his artist, The Mysterious Osyrus, for every inch of this car. And you have not seen the end of it. Davis has big plans for his tribute-paying Charger.
