Why would anybody drag race a Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 against a Dodge Charger Hellcat? Well, since such battles bring tons of giggles for those behind the wheel, as well as for those watching the race, the answer is "why not?"
And the Mission Raceway Park, which can be found in Canada, recently hosted such a drag race, with the whole thing having been caught on camera.
Keep in mind that the while the Charger Hellcat is an automatic machine, the Blue Oval toy only comes in manual form. As such, the driver of the latter had some serious work to do in order to get the thing off the line.
Even so, the guy behind the wheel of the Mopar machine jumped the start (hence our title)... but we'll stop throwing spoilers your way.
Nevertheless, if we take a look at the best quarter-mile figures delivered in independent tests, we'll notice that these two slabs of America are both 11-second cars.
Then again, the difference between them is massive, since the sedan can play the 1,320 feet game in 11 seconds flat, while the best run of the 'Stang sits at 11.9 seconds.
Of course, the numbers mentioned above have been recorded in ideal conditions, so you shouldn't necessarily expect these to show up for the race we have here.
As far as the aural side of the drag race is concerned, we'll let you be the judge of this.

What about the numbers?
Since the Dodge Charger Hellcat comes with 707 ponies and the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 packs 526 horses, you wouldn't expect the two to be anywhere near each other at the drag strip - for one thing, the Dodge, with its blown motor, also wins the torque battle by a massive margin. Oh, and let's not forget the gearbox advantage mentioned above.Nevertheless, if we take a look at the best quarter-mile figures delivered in independent tests, we'll notice that these two slabs of America are both 11-second cars.
