VTS is an iconic nameplate for Citroen, one which unfortunately has fallen very far from its past glory. The French car company has recently unveiled the all-new C-Quatre VTS in China. It's not a brand new sports sedan with the power to match anything the Germans can muster, but old technology from the previous generation C4 that's been dressed up with shiny plastic bits.
Power comes from a 2-liter engine that's totally unworthy of the VTS badge. The Chinese market rating is 147 horsepower, which is lower than the 1.6-liter turbo available with most European models for many years. If we remember correctly, the old C4 hatchback came with a VTS version powered by a 2-liter mill, but that car had somewhere around 170 horsepower.

Lack of grunt is not the only thing hardcore Citroen fans will hate. A really bad body kit has ruined what was already a dated design. The chromed wheels look like bad tuning from the 1990's and fake hood vents on chromed plastic would look on a kitchen appliance, not to mention a brand new car. And while the the exhaust pipes do look nice, having four of them on such an underpowered car is total overkill. But the worst part of all is the wing on the boot. For a front-wheel drive car that probably can't go over 200 km/h, this is a tuning no-no.

To be displayed at the upcoming Beijing Auto Show, the cheap-looking hot Citroen is already on sale. Prices for the C-Quatre VTS is 135,800 Yuan, which is equivalent to abut $22,000, a lot if you consider what's on offer.
