The old generation of the Ford Fiesta ST, which came out in 2005 if we remember correctly, was there to fight stuff like the Citroen C2 VTS, but times have moved on since then, and the new one, which you see here on the Geneva show floor, will have to battle the Polo GTI and Ibiza FR. In addition to this, we hear it will be priced somewhere around €18,000 when it hits the market later this year, undercutting the Clio RS by a bit.
The powertrain for the Fiesta ST 2013 has been changed from the 2.0-liter of the old car to a brand new 1.6-liter EcoBoost with 180 horsepower and mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. This power is enough to push the car to 100 km/h (62mph) in 7 seconds flat, while top speed is 136 mph (219 Kmph).
We’re also impressed with the looks, as the Fiesta has been given a huge grille, full body kit, wing and sports exhaust. It also sits 15 mm closer to the ground on a set of 17-inch alloys. The interior is much like the Focus ST - bright colors on the Recaro seat, a leather steering wheel and alloy pedals.
