In its 52nd consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains, all of the Chrysler Group's brands posted good results in comparison to July 2013. Some highlight stats include seven nameplates that set sales records, best July sales since 2005 for the Ram pickup truck, as well as a huge sales increase for the Jeep brand.
Reid Bigland, head of U.S. Sales, said that the group “had a solid July as each brand recorded sales gains on our way to a 20 percent year-over-year increase, our strongest July sales in 9 years. Sales of the all-new Chrysler 200 mid-size sedan continued to increase while our Jeep and Ram Truck brands each turned in double-digit sales gains, helping to lead Chrysler Group to its 52nd consecutive month of year-over-year sales growth.”

Compared to the 140,102 vehicles moved in July 2013, this year's July numbered 167,667 Chrysler Group vehicles sold, translating to a 20 percent surge. At the top there's Jeep and no less than seven models manufactured by the Chrysler Group - the Jeep Wrangler and Compass, Dodge Challenger, Journey and Dart, Ram Cargo Van and the very flawed Fiat 500L. The Fiat 500L set a new all-time monthly sales record, while Dart sales were up 23 percent in July. Jeep Wrangler sales were up 14 percent, while the Fiat 500L recorded a 49 percent year-over-year gain.

Starting with the Jeep brand, sales hiked by 41 percent compared to the same month last year, the largest percentage increase of any Chrysler Group brand in July. With its 14 percent year-over-year increase, the Jeep Wrangler had its best ever sales in the month of July. Sales of the all-new Jeep Cherokee were up 11 percent compared with sales in the previous month of June.

The Ram pickup truck posted a 14 percent gain in July, with sales of the light-duty model up 15 percent, while sales of the Ram heavy-duty lineup reported an 18 percent hike. Ram Truck brand sales, including the Ram ProMaster and Ram Cargo Van, were up 18 percent in July, the best July since 2006.

Chrysler sales were up 17 percent in July compared with the same month a year ago, driven by strong sales of the Chrysler Town & Country minivan and the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 mid-size sedan. Based on these results, this was the brand’s best July sales since 2007. Town & Country sales were up 41 percent in July, the minivan’s 12th consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains. Sales of the new 200 continue to build, with sales up 32 percent compared to June 2014.

Dodge brand sales were up a modest 3 percent in July. Sales of the Dodge Dart increased 23 percent, the compact car’s best ever sales in the month of July, marking the largest percentage sales gain of any Dodge brand model in the month. Sales of the Dodge Journey were up 10 percent, the mid-size crossover’s best sales in the month of July. Sales of the Dodge Challenger muscle car were up 1 percent, its best sales ever in the month of July. The Dodge Grand Caravan minivan and Dodge Charger each logged year-over-year sales increases in July.

Last but not least, Fiat sales were up 1 percent, the brand’s best ever sales in the month of July and its eighth-consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains. The Fiat 500L, which received a "poor" rating in the small overlap crash test, has been called in recently for a problem with the airbags and some readers told us the automatic gearbox is full of glitches, was met with a 49 percent increase, recording its best monthly sales since it was launched in June 2013.
