We test-driven quite a few Bentleys since we're in the biz and the truth is that few other cars offer that balance of handcrafted luxury, aristocratic loftiness, racing pedigree and relentless performance. Therefore there's nothing unusual with the British marque's half-year sales volume, on track for another record year.
According to the manufacturer, Bentley remains the world's most sought after luxury car brand, with global deliveries for the first half of 2014 up by 23 percent. Compared to the 4,279 cars moved in the first six months of the previous year, 5,254 automobiles were sold worldwide in the first half of 2014. China and the Middle East reported an increase of 61 and 27 percent respectively compared to the first six months of 2013.

Global success was driven by new models introduced, including the S version of the Continental GT V8 in coupe and convertible flavor and the Flying Spur W12 and Flying Spur V8. However, the Americas remain Bentley's main squeeze, having 1,388 vehicles delivered from January to June 2014, representing an 8 percent hike from 2013. In the Chinese region, no less than 1,318 cars were sold against the 740 vehicles moved in the same period last year.

With 825 units delivered and a strong performance in Germany, European sales also leapt by 11 percent, while the United Kingdom saw an increase of just 2 percent. These results were reinforced in the Asia-Pacific region and the 323 cars delivered here, representing a 46 percent rise on the 2013 figure of 222 Bentleys. While in Japan, 150 vehicles were delivered, translating to a 56 percent growth on 2013's 96 cars.

Commenting on the results, member of the board for sales, marketing and aftersales, Kevin Rose, said: “There is simply no-one in the luxury automotive sector that can match these results. We continue to prove we are the world’s most sought after luxury car brand. It’s vital to continuously develop in our exclusive market, as our customers are the most discerning. There is no question that some markets will remain tough but we are confident of a good 2014.”
