Caterham is rumored to be working on a supercar, but the carmaker isn’t going to let us sit and wait until the new model arrives, so it is now introducing a new incarnation of its Seven.
This is a more muscular brother for the Supersport and wears the Supersport-R designation. The vehicle uses the same track-focused approach as its brother, but increases performance by using a bigger, two-liter engine, which works with a five-speed manual.
The new model is slotted just above its 1.6-liter sibling, thus being situated in the middle of the range. Its 2.0-liter Ford Duratec engine delivers 180 hp, so it deals with the 535 kg (1,179.5 lbs) of the car in a way that will definitely please the driver. The list of tech goodies on the Supersport-R also includes a limited slip differential, as well as Avon CR500 tires.
The Caterham Supersport-R can be yours for GBP24,995 (EUR31,785 or USD39,807) if you assemble it yourself, or GBP27,995 (EUR35,061 or USD44,582) if you go for the already-built version.
