Some tiny homes are dainty enough to blend in with all the other tranquil houses in a posh setting. Others have a more rugged character and free spirit. With a name like the Outdoor Enthusiast, it's easy to see that this beautifully-crafted Canadian tiny falls in the second category.
Not all cabin-inspired tiny homes were created equal. What they have in common is a certain kind of structure and style that bring out the beauty of the natural wood and woodwork. They were born to sit in the middle of a forest or a similar natural, wild environment. Although equipped with all the modern basics that make life easier, they look rustic, traditional, and simple. At the same time, differences in size and layout can have surprising results.

The Outdoor Enthusiast is not a small, fairytale-like home for dreamers and artists. It was specifically designed for those who prefer to spend most of their time exploring their natural surroundings and then coming back to a home that's both practical and cozy.

This model's secret weapon is not a home office, playroom, or terrace for laid-back afternoons. What makes it special is a rather unusual feature – a separate mud room for an easier and smoother transition from the outdoors to the comfort and intimacy of the home.

Like all cabin-inspired homes, the Outdoor Enthusiast flaunts a beautiful exterior that showcases skilled workmanship. Rustic-looking cedar and pine, with natural finishes, blend perfectly with a warm, natural color palette also inspired by nature and the earth. The interior can be described as minimalistic. Instead of conventional decor pieces, this cabin-like tiny boasts a roof with exposed beams and contrasting metallic accents throughout. Plus, everything is perfectly framed by strategically-placed recessed lighting.

The Outdoor Enthusiast is certainly bigger than most tiny homes, with a length of up to 32 feet (9.7 meters) and a height of 8.6 feet (2.6 feet). Although revealing an impressive total surface of 327 square feet (30.3 square meters), this spacious tiny isn't meant for generous accommodation. It can only welcome two to four people, and its configuration includes a single loft bedroom.

What is all that space for, then? Well, the Outdoor Enthusiast comes with a separate mud room between the bathroom and the kitchen area. As soon as the owners walk in, they step inside this special lounge room that was created with explorers and adventurers in mind. Anyone who spends a lot of time outdoors, in all weather conditions, could use an intermediate space where they can take off their muddy shoes and hang their gear before entering the actual home sanctuary.

It might sound like a small thing, but with tiny dwellings, every inch of space matters and must be used wisely. With classic tiny house configurations, people have to walk straight into the kitchen or the living room because there's no room left for a separate lounge area. That's why folks like mountain bikers, farmers, and outdoor explorers, in general, would find this feature particularly useful.

The mud room has a simple design with a wooden bench and plenty of storage space. This is also where a washer/dryer unit was also conveniently placed. It sits right next to the bathroom, which is also convenient because anyone coming from outside can quickly wash up before accessing the rest of the house.

Although created for folks who are used to living in nature and spending lots of time outdoors, this tiny home doesn't sacrifice the comfort of a welcoming, cozy abode. The spacious kitchen features a large, L-shaped countertop with enough space for preparing meals and enjoying them. It's packed with modern appliances that are neatly integrated so that they take up as little space as possible, and the sleek, black accents give it a contemporary, stylish look.

The open-space main floor area also includes a living room. The home’s main entrance leads to this area, with beautiful, large windows all around. By adding a separate mud room with its own entrance, this part of the house can remain clean and clutter-free at all times. It can also fit in a convertible sofa that can turn into an extra bed for one or two people.

When it comes to cabin-like tiny homes, ladders are typically used instead of staircases, and the Outdoor Enthusiast is no exception. A simple ladder connects the main floor to the loft bedroom. Luckily, this is not a small, confined space but an oversized loft.

It's the perfect cocoon-like room where the owner can rest after a busy day outdoors. There's enough space for a lavish bed and even a small closet. Multiple windows keep it flooded with light, and the practical metal railing adds safety without blocking the view.

This unusual home on wheels for explorers is one of the largest models offered by Simply Living Stattonrock, a Canadian brand with the experience of a reputable house builder. Pricing starts at C$167,999 ($127,000), with two color palettes to choose from and an optional furniture package.
