Retro-style photos were the perfect choice for this dreamy cottage on wheels that seems to belong in a magical fairytale land; still, don't be fooled – the charming Lilja is perfectly equipped for contemporary living standards and even has a wild side.
The Lilja tiny house makes a strong impression straight away due to its extra-dark silhouette with highly contrasting accents and its classic, almost vintage shape. At a closer look, you'd be able to admire the craftsmanship of its galvanized sheet metal ceiling and the unique texture of the wall panels, obtained through the famous shou sugi ban technique, an ancient Japanese wood-charring process that increases durability and confers an unmistakable look.

Inside, this Swedish beauty displays an intricate yet apparently minimalistic mix of modern-day functionality and vintage coziness. Ideally suited for a couple, this one-bedroom tiny house can accommodate a small family or occasional guests thanks to a clever modular sofa. This multi-functional item poses as a spacious sofa during the day, with lots of storage underneath, and turns into a comfy bed by night. The lovely windows that take up almost the entire front wall provide the perfect backdrop for this 2-in-1 lounge/bedroom.

Lilja's official bedroom is up in the loft area, and it could successfully claim the title for the dreamiest, most romantic loft room. Old-school curtains recreate the bohemian ambiance of a canopy bed. This is an ingenious way to create privacy without adding safety walls that might be too bulky, or that might obstruct the view.

This simple "trick" turns this room into a magical oasis, one that doesn't lack functionality either. You'll discover built-in storage cabinets on both sides of the bed, taking advantage of the room's length. Unlike standard lofts, there are no horizontal windows on the side walls, only a smaller one on the end wall. Lilja wasn't designed to soak up as much sunlight as possible and be fully open to the outdoors; on the contrary, it exudes the moody, intimate ambiance that defines Swedish aesthetics.

Downstairs, a lovely traditional-style kitchen offers ample storage and a generous cooking surface. The countertop was elegantly extended into a bar section with space for two chairs – a small but practical dining area that takes up minimal floor space. A gas stove and a fridge/freezer were carefully integrated into this compact kitchen. Dainty wooden shelves seem to be scattered around the house to add convenient storage while saving precious floor space; some of them are added to the kitchen, others to the bathroom, and some found their spot in the corner of the lounge.

A simple ladder also waits patiently to lead the owners to their romantic nest upstairs. During the rest of the time, it leans against the wall so that it doesn't interfere with the everyday flow around the house. Lilja was too tiny to include a conventional staircase; the ladder was a space-saving solution, although not the most comfortable.

A house on wheels that boasts only 6.7 meters (21.9 feet) in length and a little over three meters (10 feet) in width needs to come up with ways to ramp up functionality without compromising spaciousness. As dreamy and cozy as it looks, Lilja's lounge is a class in functionality; apart from the clever sofa, it also boasts a clever coffee table with folding table tops that make room for additional, easy-to-reach storage. The discrete LED lighting hidden behind the roof rails and the adorable rustic wooden stove enhance the magical atmosphere inside this cottage.

Lilja makes up for its modest length by showing off beautiful vaulted ceilings that create a visual impression of spaciousness and also complement the home's vintage, romantic style perfectly.

Treesign is a Swedish builder with a strong focus on sustainability, which is why the Lilja Tiny was designed to function self-sufficiently for most of the year, thanks to solar cells, lithium batteries, and an inverter. Power plants that start operating after the sun is gone or when the batteries are low can be added to ensure full-time coverage.

Using as many sustainable materials as possible and equipping each home for off-grid functionality is the key formula behind the Treesign homes. At the same time, the unmistakable Swedish touch adds the coziness and warm ambiance that turns these dwellings into instant homes.

Equipped with all the basic kitchen and bathroom appliances and beautifully furnished, the Lilja Tiny is the perfect home for anyone with a romantic soul. It comes on a lightweight trailer that makes it easily transportable, and it offers much more than 21 square meters (226 square feet) of floor space.

The standard Lilja model is priced at SEK 690,000 ($63,300) without further customizations. This Swedish manufacturer builds all of its homes on wheels indoors, at a dedicated production facility in Madangsholm, ensuring the best working conditions and a speedier delivery time.
