"What's the point in racing the C8 Chevrolet Corvette and the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500?" one might rightfully ask. Well, the answer isn't necessarily the rational kind: the battle we're talking about simply had to happen.
Interestingly, the 2020 Corvette we have here, which features the intermediate 2LT trim level and the Z51 Performance Package (with the high wing), ended up costing under $85,000, which brings it around the same price point as muscle car it competed against.

While the Chevy is animated by a naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 churning out 495 horses, the Ford's blown 5.2-liter mill delivers 760 ponies, but both velocity toys send that power to the rear wheels using dual-clutch transmissions.

While the fight we have here took place on the road, please don't use this as an example and take a trip to the track when you feel like racing.

Now, the mid-engined configuration of the 'Vette does give this an advantage during the takeoff phase, but these drivers went for rolling start adventures - this is often the case with street brawls, as such a path reduces the risk of a slide, causes less traffic disruption and allows the hooners to disappear into the horizon quicker.

Meanwhile, in serious drag racing land, the C8 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has already left its 11s factory quarter-mile time behind, entering the 10s arena thanks to nothing more than a shot of nitrous and strip-friendly wheels/tires.

Of course, multiple aftermarket developers are working on installing various power adders (we've already discussed multiple twin-turbo builds and a Procharged one), even though the factory ECU puzzle hasn't been solved yet.

PS: If you're willing to skip straight to the racing bits of the video below, you can head over to the 11:45 and the 14:40 timestamps, with the latter bringing you a 30 mph roll adventure.
