Multiple companies are currently developing twin-turbo systems for the C8 Corvette. Hennessey Performance Engineering, for example, wants to extract 1,200 horsepower from the LT2 small-block V8 with two thumpin’ great snails on the sides. Other companies, however, plan to supercharge the engine despite the tight packaging.
ProCharger is specialized in intercooled supercharger systems, and for the C7 Corvette, such a setup adds 180-plus horsepower to the tally. Given the similarities of the LT2 with the LT1, it’s safe to assume the ProCharger C8 Corvette will develop around 700 HP.

In addition to the packed engine bay, the E99 engine control unit “is encrypted and reportedly hard to crack.” Like any other ECU, software takes time to master and ProCharger will eventually gain access to the electronic brain of the C8 Corvette.

At the present moment, the company is developing the ProCharger supercharger system at a facility in Lenexa, Kansas. Planning started last fall, followed by 3D modeling prior to the delivery of the black car in the photo gallery. With a little bit of luck, these guys will complete the R&D by June 2020 for a Summer 2020 launch of the upgrade.

The P-1SC-1 kit seems to be the most obvious choice, but the P-1X ad D-1X head units shouldn’t be forgotten either. Both superchargers fit into the brackets of the P-1SC-1, and in the case of the C7 Corvette, ProCharger offers them as optional extras. The P-1X is capable of 875-plus horsepower while the more badass D-1X system promises 1,000-plus horsepower as direct bolt-in upgrades at the same boost level and pulley size.

As a brief refresher, the stock LT2 that General Motors manufactures in New York is good for 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque with the optional sports exhaust. The Z51 Performance Package also changes the final-drive ratio from 4.81:1 to 5.17 gearing.

“A ProCharger supercharged C8 Corvette will be a world-beater in terms of performance, efficiency and just plain coolness. Ferrari and Porsche owners beware!”
