“I want everyone to know that contrary to what all the news outlets are saying, I am not broke” the actor said in a statement to ET Online. But rumors of his financial problems prevail as the upcoming auction of his Hollywood memorabilia is a go. One of the iconic items to hit the auction is the 1977 Pontiac Trans Am coupe the famous actor drove in Smokey & the Bandit movie.
It was recently announced that the 78-year old Hollywood star is putting more than 600 items of exclusive personal memorabilia on auction, items such as the actor’s famous “Bandit” Jacket, Emmy Award and plenty other unique collectables. While the bids start at just $25 for the lowest priced item, the most expensive issue, a bronze sculpture, starts at $75,000.

Burt Reynolds was never a huge collector of vehicles, but the Pontiac in question is quite interesting. The 1977 Trans Am Coupe was used as a promotional vehicle for the movie and gifted to the actor for his collection. It features a 400 cu. in. Pontiac V8 engine with just over 12,000 miles.

Featuring a 4-barrel carburetor and an automatic transmission, the vehicle even has a gold plaque on the driver door that reads “1977 Pontiac Trans Am Owned By Burt Reynolds” and a customized “Bandit” logo. With a starting price of $30,000 the current bid already reached $130,000 and we wouldn’t be surprised if it would get to 200k on December 11, when bidding on all items begins.
