Tiny houses are no longer about sacrifices. There is now more variety than ever in the tiny home market, and you can easily find models that fit just about everything you need not to be forced to compromise the comforts of modern life. Efficiently built with a functional layout and beautiful finishes, the Penelope tiny house on wheels is a great example.
Built as a high-design compact dwelling but sized like an RV, the Penelope gives owners the much-coveted freedom to go anywhere they want without renouncing comfort and style. This modern tiny house measures 32 feet (9.75 meters) in length and 8.6 feet (2.6 meters) in width, meaning it can legally be transported on roads, and it offers everything you need in a stylish and visually appealing package.

Downsizing your life is one of the simplest ways one can contribute to the protection of the environment. People who move into tiny houses tend to adopt a minimalist lifestyle and eco-friendly practices to suit their new way of living. But if you don't mind sacrificing some room, small-space living also comes with tremendous personal benefits, such as financial freedom, reduced stress, increased mobility, and a more profound connection with nature.

Living in a tiny home like Penelope offers you all these perks and more. Designed and crafted by Texas-based builder Decathlon Tiny Homes, this unit is a harmonious combination of style and function. It is based on the company's Athena model and includes all kinds of luxury features that make it a truly glamorous dwelling.

Built on a triple-axle trailer, Penelope boasts a modern black-and-white exterior with engineered wood siding, black cedar trim around the entrance door, and a cross gable roofline that gives it an elegant look from the outside and adds space and light inside.

For the interior, the builders maintain a spacious floor plan perfectly suited for a single individual or a couple. The thoughtful layout comprises a private ground-floor bedroom that sleeps two, a commodious living room, a ready-to-cook kitchen, a beautiful bathroom, and a storage loft accessed via a ladder. The high ceilings enhance the sense of spaciousness, multiple windows invite natural light to penetrate inside, and the white shiplap walls add extra brightness.

Walking through the full-light entrance door, you will find a compact yet attractive galley-style kitchen with a black and white aesthetic. The custom cabinetry with stone countertops is beautifully complemented by a matching tiled backsplash, open wood shelves, and a gorgeous golden sink and golden fixtures. Modern appliances add to the sleek look, with a full-size fridge, a convection microwave and air fryer combo, and a two-burner cooktop. Two large pull-out drawers next to the fridge and a full-height pantry closet on the opposite wall complete the kitchen design.

Right above the entrance, you will notice how the double gable roof looks from the inside. Besides adding extra height, two small windows, and drawing the eyes up, it is also finished in black cedar, creating a nice contrast to the regular white ceilings in the rest of the house.

The adjacent living room is impressively spacious and fits a four-person couch. The designers took advantage of the available space and also added a folding table and chairs to create a cozy dining nook, increasing the functionality of the space. Small details like a golden bar cart and crystal lighting fixture add a special charm and character to the lounge area.

The highlight of this tiny home is, of course, the ground-floor bedroom that is completely private thanks to a barn-style door. It has high vaulted ceilings that create the illusion of spaciousness and fits a queen bed and a large wardrobe. The custom-made bed platform incorporates a couple of drawers for even more storage, and two large windows keep the space luminous and airy.

The bathroom inside Penelope is at the other end of the house and is jaw-droppingly beautiful, with a 3' x 3′ (91 x 91 cm) high-design shower with "windowed” walls and a bunch of glamorous features. The custom vanity matches the cabinets in the kitchen for a cohesive look, but everything else stands out, from the beautiful ceramic sink to the vintage mirror and the brass-toned lighting fixture. There is also space for a full-flush toilet, a 30-gallon hot water heater, and a washer/dryer combo unit.

The future owners' storage needs are well catered to with various clever storage solutions. There is a storage loft above the bathroom, which you can reach via a removable wood ladder that stays out of the way when not in use. Moreover, besides the large pantry, the small hallway leading to the bathroom also houses a full-height closet for hanging clothes and other belongings.

Decathlon Tiny Homes does not mention the exact price of the Penelope model, but the Athena design starts at $79,500. With all the upgrades, however, it's highly likely that this particular unit goes above the $100,000 mark.
