Adria's Action "Teardrop" Camper Blends a Massive Interior With European Luxury Living

Teardrop campers come in all shapes, styles, and sizes. However, this next one is only a teardrop based on the overall figure. Other than that, Adria Mobil's Action camper is something else entirely.
Folks, if the name Adria Mobil sounds familiar to you, it might be because you've dabbled in the European RV and camper scene. After all, this crew has been around since 1965, placing them alongside industry giants the likes of Winnebago, Airstream, and Hymer (a major European RV manufacturer).

Yet, what helped this brand maintain a spot for itself among the greats is the fact that they roll with the times, often modifying existing models to keep up with current and future owner needs. One example of this notion is the Action.

Now, the Action is the sort of camper that's a tad different than what we may be used to, especially if we look at this bugger as teardrop, which it clearly isn't. But, some principles of aerodynamics, such as the curved and elongated bow and bulbous backend, albeit very RV-like, are in place. Just don't expect to find an outdoor galley at the back of this unit; I told you it's a bit different.

Another design aspect that's clearly not of the teardrop world is the massive shell or habitat. Teardrops are known to be small and light and typically offer the bare necessities we need to live the on-road life, but the Action actually takes things to a different level, a European one, and places everything we would need at our disposal. If you've checked out the image gallery, you understand what I'm talking about. If not, now's the time to do so.

For the next few minutes or so, let's pretend that you own one of the four available floorplans of wheeled composite, steel, and aluminum. My favorite is the 391 PH, and it's a massive and modular dinette and additional bunk space - the family-friendly unit - so we'll walk through that for a moment.

Entry into the camper is made via the right side of the unit and toward the rear, and upon entering this mobile habitat, you'll find yourself enveloped in an interior that reminds me of a solid Class B motorhome or campervan. Heck, we can even stretch that idea a bit and compare the Action to half of a Class C RV.

From the immaculate cabinetry to the well-lit interior, this is the sort of camper that makes you want to spend time indoors. I know it's a bit of a paradox and all - outdoor living inside - but upon returning from whatever adventures you've embarked upon during that day, you'll feel at home upon your return. With composites, woods, and fabrics intertwined in perfect unity, how could you not?

After you've taken in the surroundings, it's time to turn our attention to the rear of the unit and get busy making meals using a three-burner top, stainless steel sink, and 140-liter (37 gals) fridge. Since the kids are joining you on this trip, you'll have to really unfurl your abilities, and a large flush countertop lets you do that.

With a quick turn in place and a step toward the front of the unit - that's all it takes - you'll be able to set the table and finally ring that dinner bell. While the kids have already explored the local surroundings, you haven't had a chance to do so yet, and so, as you enjoy your meal, you pull back the window blinds and enjoy a view of the world around you via two lateral windows, a forward view-port, and two overhead skylights, one of which, and the largest, sits above the bedroom, so peering into the depths of space until your eyes get heavy is a very real possibility.

After you've enjoyed your meal and the view, you unleash the little ones back into the wild and decide to hop in the shower before the sun starts to set. Yes, this one has an indoor shower - all the Action layouts do.

All nice and clean, you grab a drink from the fridge, join your significant other outside, and plop down on your outdoor dining set. Yes, with plenty of outdoor and indoor storage options, you can even get an outdoor campsite going with ease. A neat way to enjoy the setting sun, no matter if it's overlooking a beach, valley, or hidden lake in the mountains.

Last but not least, let's take a step back and have a look at some of the towing specifications for this model. First off, we're looking at an additional 5.97 m (19.5 ft) of trailer behind your vehicle, so this thing definitely isn't small, but in all, you'll only be towing along a unit with a GVWR of 1,300 kg (2,866 lbs), so you won't need the biggest and most powerful machine in your garage.

As for off-grid capabilities, Adria doesn't seem to have added features like solar panels or a battery array as standard, but for a few more bucks, you can take this baby off-grid with ease. Speaking of bucks, how much can we expect to drop on one of these overgrown "teardrops?"

Well, it really all depends on who you use as your dealer, what floorplan it may be, and the added features in store. However, my research into this question revealed 2024 units priced as low as $30K (€28,000 at current exchange rates) and as high as $35K. That's a damn good price considering what's in store. The hard part now is finding one of these in North American dealerships.
