The Audi e-tron GT is shaping up to be the next exciting new EV, though most of that is down to the model's design - as much as we've been able to see so far - and the fact it’s related to the wonderful Porsche Taycan.
Unlike its more expensive sibling, the e-tron's power will not peak at 761 hp, but a slightly more worldly figure of 650 hp. However, if you consider it's still a four-door sedan (or coupe, according to Audi), presumably with plenty of room inside - as EVs tend to offer - that's still a ridiculously high amount of power. In fact, it sounds like it's just at the right spot not to threaten the Taycan while still offering blistering performance.

Combine that with what seems to be a cool exterior design (the prototype is still heavily camouflaged) and the proverbial quality of Audi's interiors, and you have quite a compelling package. Well, the good news is this package has just begun series production at the company's Böllinger Höfe plant, which means we're only months away from a full reveal as well as the ability to place an order.

Audi is using the e-tron GT to showcase its dedication to a sustainable future beyond the switch to electric propulsion. According to the German company, the production of the electric sedan is net carbon neutral. That is achieved through the use of eco-electricity (obtained from renewable sources) and heat from regenerative sources.

If that doesn't sound like it's enough to claim zero net carbon emissions, it's because it's not the complete story. Audi goes even further and tells us the production process also steers away from paper and packaging in general, as well as using aluminum and polymer closed loops (recycling what otherwise would have been discarded as waste).

Considering Audi says it will open the books for the new EV this spring, expect to see the uncamouflaged e-tron GT before winter is over. Even though it's not going to be much of a surprise when it happens, we can't say we're not excited. Sorry Audi, but as well as they might sell, SUVs just don't make anyone's fizz gland tingle.
