There are people in this world who have made a living from taking part in online contests, sweepstakes, and all sorts of competitions. Most of us, however, only occasionally enlist for such things. And there are the few who have never entered a contest for the off chance they might get something extraordinary for very little effort. And it's this latter group that presently has reasons to celebrate.
At the end of January, American carmaker Ford announced it would give away a 2024 Ford Mustang GT. It's not a completely stock machine, but one that had been customized with help from Sydney Sweeney.

The 26-year-old is one of the hottest names in Hollywood right now, with no less than three movies she starred in released since the beginning of the year: Anyone But You, Madame Web, and Immaculate.

But that's not what prompted Ford to tap her for help with the design of the Mustang. Aside from being an actress, Sweeney recently ran a public 1969 Ford Bronco restoration on her TikTok channel, Syd's Garage. And she also owns a 1965 Mustang nicknamed Britney.

This is kind of natural if you consider the fact she grew up in a family of mechanics, and combined these two facts were more than enough reason for Ford to enlist her help. And the deal was this: Ford and Sweeney were to co-design a pair of special Mustangs of the 2024 model year, with one of them to be handed over to one lucky fan.

Now, don't go thinking that the modified Mustang was, in some way, mechanically altered from its stock self. Far from it, the changes made had nothing performance-related in them, and they were all visual tweaks.

More to the point, the actress chose the color scheme for the car, Robin's Egg Blue with a crushed glass clear coat, the 20-inch chrome rims that were installed on it, and placed her autograph on the engine.

The Mustang also received the Ford x Sydney Sweeney heart bolt emblem, which is also seen on the clothing line the carmaker and the actress run together, and LED lights are across the headliner.

All people had to do to get their hands on the free Mustang was follow Ford on Instagram or TikTok and comment using the #FordMustangContest hashtag about how "you've been able to challenge expectations in your own passion."

Ford says no less than 5,000 entered the competition (which is quite a small number, if you really think about it) and, naturally, only one emerged victorious.

The winner is described solely as Brittley from Washington State, owner of a 2005 Mustang and a first-time participant in such a competition. Ford says the woman will receive her muscle car in April. We have no info on what happened to the second car designed the same way.
