Although the Raging Bull of Sant'Agata Bolognese was founded in 1963, the 33rd issue of Lamborghini celebrates 60 years of Automobili Lamborghini. Said issue further includes a design teaser of the Urus PHEV, which is coming to a dealership near you for model year 2025 in the latter half of 2024.
As opposed to the original Urus, the S, and the Performante, this fellow is rocking a different rear end. A pair of redesigned taillights and what appears to be a more prominent spoiler also need to be mentioned. Lamborghini promises "a more powerful driving experience" from the Italian SUV, which is twinned with the 2024 Porsche Cayenne.

Emphasis on more powerful because – obviously enough – we're dealing with an electric motor. We further expect some improvements for the Audi-Porsche V8, which is rated at 666 ps (657 hp) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque in the S and Performante. You can think of the Urus PHEV as the punchier sibling of the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, whose twin-turbocharged V8 develops 591 horsepower at full chatter. Its electric motor belts out 174 ponies, and the combined rating is 729 hp.

Pretty impressive, huh? Torque is pretty impressive as well at 700 pound-feet (950 Nm), but on the other hand, remember that Porsche's most powerful Cayenne to date weighs a lot. For the DIN unladen weight, Porsche quotes 2,570 kilograms (5,666 pounds). Lamborghini doesn't shy from using a lot of carbon fiber, but in any case, don't expect a significantly lighter vehicle from the Raging Bull.

Spied on quite a few occasions with pre-facelift headlights and new units featuring revised signature lighting, the Urus PHEV has one rival to speak of, that rival being the 715-horsepower Ferrari Purosangue. When it comes to plug-in hybrids, the Urus PHEV does not compete with the BMW XM Label because nobody would consider a Bimmer over a Lamborghini. The Fezza may be a free-breathing sensation with no electrical assistance whatsoever, but as far as exoticness is concerned, it sure falls in the same category as the Urus PHEV.

The first-ever Urus to feature a plug-in setup will be replaced in 2029 by the second-gen Urus. The Italian automaker has already confirmed a full-electric powertrain for the next generation. One year before Lamborghini redesigns the Urus on the Volkswagen Group's Scalable Systems Platform, the Lanzador will be revealed in all its glory.

Previewed by a concept in August 2023, the Lanzador will also feature Volkswagen's upcoming Scalable Systems Platform. The concept is a one-megawatt vehicle with two drive units, but only time will tell if Lamborghini can make a case for 1,341 horsepower from its four-seat "ultra GT."

Turning our attention back to all things 2024, the Urus PHEV isn't the only new Lambo confirmed to launch this year. The Huracan's replacement is also in the offing, and similarly to the Urus PHEV, it's a plug-in hybrid with twin-turbo V8 muscle. If you like your Lamborghinis naturally aspirated, your only choice for MY2025 will be the Revuelto.

Codenamed LB63x, the Revuelto-styled supercar is believed to pack in excess of 800 horsepower. If the Prancing Horse of Maranello can extract more than 800 from the 296, then Lamborghini has to respond with more oomph for the V8-powered LB63x.
