Although it's a tiny Japanese automaker, Mazda has had a busy summer so far, with several (subtle) novelties across the board. And they are not powering down anytime soon.
Since June, they introduced the new Carbon Turbo special editions for the 2024 Mazda3, CX-30, and CX-5 models, announced the pricing details and packaging specifications for the 2024 Mazda3, and discontinued a couple of crossovers – the big CX-9 and the MX-30 electric offering.

Currently, the latter still has limited availability only in California, and it's probably going to exit the US market without too much fuss soon enough. Meanwhile, the company is preparing for the introduction of the mighty CX-90 and CX-90 PHEV models and continues to reveal details about what is in store for their 2024MY change logs.

Right now, the focus on the pricing details and packaging specifications has moved to the 2024 Mazda CX-5, their worldwide best-selling compact crossover SUV produced over two generations since 2012. Sadly, we have some bad news regarding the pricing details – while the 2023 CX-5 retails from an MSRP of $26,700, the newer version will jump to $29,300 when it arrives at nationwide dealerships sometime this fall.

Naturally, the brand's best-selling vehicle in the United States comes with a few subtle improvements for 2024MY, including new colors like Platinum Quartz or Zircon Sand Metallic (Carbon Turbo) or standard i-Activ all-wheel drive across the board. Speaking of the model range, it's an encompassing endeavor. It all starts with the CX-5 2.5 S Select from $29,300, which is equipped with the Skyactiv-G 2.5-liter, four-cylinder packing 187 horsepower and cylinder deactivation.

New additions include i-Stop technology for improved EPA fuel economy ratings of 26 mpg city, 31 mpg freeway, and 28 mpg combined, up two mpg from the previous model. All CX-5 models feature a six-speed automatic transmission, G-Vectoring Control Plus, and complimentary Mazda Connected Services for three years on the 10.25-inch Mazda Connect infotainment system's touch display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Alternatively, customers can opt for the CX-5 2.5 S with the Preferred package that adds a few comfort and tech features from an MSRP of $30,650, and the Carbon Edition packing exclusive features like the Polymetal Gray hue black metallic 19-inch alloy wheels and new for 2024 the Bose Premium Audio system with two front USB-C sockets from $31,950.

There are also S Premium and S Premium Plus models from $33,900 and $36,500, respectively. The trio of CX-5 Turbo models (Carbon - $37k, Premium - $37,800, and Signature - $40,600) feature the Skyactiv-G 2.5 Turbo engine with 256 hp on premium 93 octane fuel (227 hp on 87 octane fuel). The new Carbon Turbo features perks like the exclusive Zircon Sand Metallic or Rhodium White exterior colors with black contrasting bits plus 19-inch black metallic aluminum alloy wheels. Inside there's a Terracotta trim for the seats with black synthetic suede inserts and contrast stitching.
