The 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe is inching closer to debut, which is set to happen this summer. The closer we get to the moment, the more information we get. Now info on the engine lineup has been leaked.
Hyundai announced, back in January, that they would be revealing the new Santa Fe in 2023, but failed to mention when exactly that would happen. Now we know that the fifth generation of the model is about to be revealed.

The South Korean carmaker made the announcement while presenting the changes that will show up in the range for the 2024 model year in the United States.

Codenamed MX5, the redesigned Hyundai Santa Fe will get larger proportions, an angular new design, and an upright front fascia. Easily recognizable H-shaped daytime running lights which, double as turn signals, will flank the massive radiator grille. At the opposite end, turn signals show up low, on the left and right side of the license plate, located in the bumper.

The camouflage that covers up the prototypes spotted on public roads do not let much in sight. But one thing is for sure: the upcoming Santa Fe is starting to look a lot like, let's say, the Land Rover Defender or any other boxy SUV out there.

The wind of change is also blowing on board the Santa Fe. Hyundai will offer various layouts depending on the trim. There should be a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster on board the upcoming model and a 12.3-inch touchscreen with a tablet-like design.

But the carmaker might also offer a trim that unites the driver’s screen and the infotainment display under a single glass lid. The gear switch seems to have migrated from the center console to the steering wheel column. Physical buttons keep their ground on board the SUV, making it easier for the driver to control various features while on the move and needs to keep eyes on the road.

The facelifted Kia Sorento, based on the same platform as the Santa Fe, is also expected to show up this summer, as spy shots reveal prototypes closer to production.

The Korean Carblog team got their hands on a document that reveals much of the engine lineup. The 2.5-liter Turbo GDi engine with nearly 290 horsepower will be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Electrification will be present across the lineup. We will be dealing with a 1.6T GDi HEV and a 1.6T GDi PHEV, with the latter running on an all wheel-drive setup.

The current generation Santa Fe starts at $28,750, with the Hybrid version priced at $36,210 and the Plug-In version - at $42,410. The next-gen Santa Fe will surely be a bit more expensive.

Hyundai will be revealing two other models this summer. They are working on the facelifted US-spec Sonata with hybrid and N Line versions, following the reveal of the model for the Korean market last March.
