It's been a while since we've last seen the next-gen Hyundai Santa Fe. But the mid-size crossover is back, and it wore its production headlights this time. Yep, those H-shaped lighting units will be one of the defining traits of the vehicle, making it extremely easy to recognize at night in the rearview mirror.
The average Joe might confuse it during the daytime for the latest Land Rover Defender. The reason is the boxy overall look, with a more upright nose, or so it appears from beneath that thick camouflage sprinkled with fake cladding. With a floating style accentuated by the black pillars, the new roofline starts above the less angled windscreen and ends where the tailgate starts. Due to that rear hunch, it's impossible to make out the design of the back end.

We already saw a good part of the interior a few months ago, with the main screen positioned above the thinner central air vents and likely featuring a tablet-like design partially under wraps. It sits next to the new digital instrument cluster. Look closely at the steering wheel, and you will see a column-mounted shifter. This has freed up additional space on the center console, which is home to a wireless charging pad and a large cupholder. Physical buttons and knobs are still a thing in the next-gen Santa Fe, making it easier to control different things than having to search through different submenus in the central display.

All unofficial data points towards the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe using the same platform as the Kia Sorento. It should get a range of gasoline engines, some of which will be partially electrified, with mild hybrids and plug-in hybrids likely completing the offering. The exact units that will make up the powertrain family will be detailed in due course, and the magic numbers will probably be announced during the grand unveiling. We expect the North American spec to launch with seating for five, as the larger Palisade will still be the go-to three-row crossover in the Korean brand's lineup. In Europe, however, it will probably launch with additional seating behind the second row.

Since the wraps have yet to come off, we expect the next-gen Hyundai Santa Fe to debut either before the end of 2023 or early next year. It is likely that it will be a 2024 model by the time it makes its way to the United States, and it is expected with a small price bump. With its catfish-like face, the current Santa Fe has an MSRP of $28,750 for the 2023 model year. The Santa Fe Hybrid is a $36,210 affair before destination and handling, and the Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid starts at $42,410.
