Alfa Romeo has truly struck gold with the modern-day Giulia. Not only is it sexy, but it is a great driver's car that actually poses a threat to other premium compact sports sedans, like the Mercedes C-Class, Audi A4, and BMW 3 Series.
Believe it or not, it's been eight years since the assembly kicked off at the Piedimonte San Germano factory in Lazio, Italy. The model keeps using the same Giorgio platform, which FCA made, and it is the same foundation stone of the Stelvio, Maserati GranTurismo, Grecale, and Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The versatile construction supports numerous powertrains, though for the Giulia, anyway, Alfa Romeo decided to keep it simple. Thus, in the United States, anyway, you can only order it with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that develops 280 horsepower. The 2024 lineup comprises the Sprint, Ti, Competizione, and Veloce models, with MSRPs varying from $42,480 to $48,780.
Did you think we forgot about that BMW M3 rival? We didn't, as the Giulia Quadrifoglio is also available stateside, priced from $81,960. It uses a turbo'd 2.9-liter V6 making 505 hp, and it only comes with rear-wheel drive. The family also includes the Giulia Quadrifoglio 100th Anniversary, which is the top dog with an MSRP of $87,360 and identical output, albeit featuring a few enhancements and a bit more gear to stand out.
Visually, the facelifted Giulia sports a redesigned face that ties it to the new Tonale. On the inside, it has a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, so those hoping for more novelties were probably disappointed when it premiered last year. However, since then, there have been numerous unofficial takes on trying to make it look even sexier, and we think the latest that we stumbled upon, made by kelsonik and shared on social media a few days ago, is a great proposal.
You don't need to look at images of both the real thing and the one sketched out by the rendering artist to tell what's new, as the updates are pretty much in your face. These are the new headlights with a much slimmer design, a redesigned nose, a pair of vents added on each side of the large central air intake, and a tweaked hood. The grille is almost the same as before, and the same goes for the profile, including the side mirrors, door handles, and even the wheels. Unfortunately, the back end is not visible, but to bring it in line with the fresh face, it would need a few adjustments of its own.
Between us, we absolutely love the unofficial redesign of the 2024 Giulia, as we think it looks far better than the one of the real thing. But do you agree with that? Let us know if the CGI is a yay or a nay by dropping a line below.
