Nissan seems to be on track for its biggest unveiling of the year. The all-new Rogue, a 2021 model year crossover, has just been leaked via some official-looking photos.
We've already examined both spyshots and patent images of the new Rogue, so we've got no questions about what we're dealing with here. In addition, the body-colored license plates tell us we're dealing with official photos from the American market launch.
We were already expecting a good-looking family crossover on the outside, and Nissan delivered. The brand is among the best at this split-headlight design that almost every company has tried but Nissan pioneered with the Juke over a decade ago.
The size of the grille is also quite surprising when you consider the old Rogue was quite understated. The back of the new crossover is a little more predictable, featuring a square trunk opening and chunky taillights. Maybe that's something they can fix for the mid-life facelift.
It's the interior that really caught our attention, being packed full of interesting new features and design elements. This Platinum trim appears to have a two-tone cabin with black leather and a brown upper dashboard. Other noteworthy features include the D-shaped steering wheel, premium-looking tablet screen, digital dashboard, and induction wireless phone charging.
In a normal yearly calendar, 2020 New York Auto Show would happen right about now, so we wouldn't be surprised to see the 2021 Rogue making a web debut in a couple of weeks.
It's yet unclear if deliveries can start anytime soon, but we believe the powertrain department won't witness major changes at first. The Rogue will still be powered by the familiar 2.5-liter engine, though this will be updated with a bit more power (188 hp) and maybe even auto stop-start.
Drivers looking for something a bit more powerful may be offered a 2-liter VC-Turbo four-cylinder that develops up to 248 hp and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) of torque. That might not arrive until the next model year, but will be matched to the familiar Xtronic transmission and AWD.
