Has anybody kept count how many special editions of the LC were released in the past 12 months? Lexus keeps on churning them out, and the Inspiration Series breaks the mold with green paintwork and a limited run of 100 examples of the breed for the United States.
The LC isn’t a big seller for Lexus, but then again, an automaker of this caliber couldn’t afford to pass the opportunity to compete with the BMW 8 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe. Speaking of which, both competitors from Germany are more powerful.

To this effect, Lexus plans to introduce the LC F sometime in 2020 at the latest with a twin-turbo V8 is the rumors turn out to be true. But before the performance-oriented model, the Japanese brand is taking its sweet time with the roll out of the soft-top body style of the LC.

Turning our attention back to the Inspiration Series, the Nori Green Pearl paintwork is complemented by 21-inch wheels with a two-tone finish. The interior also features a contrasting theme, blending Alcantara with Bespoke Saddle Tan leather upholstery. The Black Amber trim and geometric pattern on the sill plates are also specific to this particular model.

As the name implies, the Inspiration Series is based on the LC 500. No mechanical changes were performed whatsoever to the 10-speed automatic transmission or the 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8, which puts out 471 horsepower (478 PS), 398 pound-feet (540 Nm) of torque, and a growl that might fool you into thinking this is a NASCAR engine for the road.

On the driving front, the rear-wheel-drive grand tourer features a limied-slip differential to take on whatever twisties come your way. 60 mph comes in 4.4 seconds, and top speed is limited to 168 mph. That’s 96 and 270 km/h over in Europe, and speaking of which, Lexus mentioned that a European version will go on sale sometime in October 2019.

Pricing hasn’t been announced, but do remember the previous model – the one painted in Flare Yellow – used to retail at $106,210 in the U.S.
