We've spied the 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 on countless occasions and yet none of the prototypes we've shown you so far came with a detail showcased on the one that brought us here today. We're referring to the rear spoiler of this pony.
The aero element adorning the posterior of this GT500 reminds us of the one fitted to the GT350 Track Package - the car came to our attention via a Mustang6G forum user.

Of course, this small rear wing makes us wonder whether Ford will offer multiple incarnations of the GT500. For one thing, we could have a GT500R/GT500KR and a GT500 Track Pack like the one we have here.

After all, a GT500 family would make sense, especially if we consider the diversity of the competition: while the Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye borrows Demon bits, offering 797 horses, there's also the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.

When fitted to the ZL1 package, the golden bowtie machine can redefine muscle car handling standards, with the thing having managed to blitz the Nurburgring in a whopping 7:16.

Motivation for the new muscle hero is expected to come from a supercharged V8, with the massive air extractor acting as a hood dome probably being there for this reason.

And since the 5.0-liter Coyote motor of the GT (cross-plane crankshaft) and the 5.2-liter Voodoo engine of the GT350 (flat-plane crank) have proven extremely capable, the new unit should have a solid starting point. As such, the unit is expected to deliver at least 700 hp.

The Blue Oval is expected to let buyers choose between a stick shift and an automatic. The latter could be a torque converter unit or even a dual-clutch unit like the one used on the Ford GT (just listen to these shifts).

Ford is expected to introduce the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show in January and yet the multitude of teasers means we might see the uber-pony even sooner.
