It's safe to say that these could be the last awesome Audis with internal combustion engines ever made. Seeing as it's all downhill from here, the new RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback deserve all the love and attention.
We've already done in-depth coverage of the pair at the Frankfurt Motor Show. However, we found some extra-juicy YouTube video footage worth sharing. Automann-TV specializes in capturing the pure essence of a car, the look, and performance. We were particularly interested to have a sample of the exhaust sound, which can make break a V8 exotic. Sure, Audi released official videos, but this is more honest.

Audi says that these are the biggest exhaust tips it's ever fitted to an RS model, but the aural experience is no better than the previous generation. That's usually been the case with new German cars, though there have been a few exceptions from AMG. At least once everything is electric, exhaust sound won't be an issue.

Power is still coming from a 4-liter bi-turbo V8, but it's a new unit which owes its existence to co-development with Porsche. Older S or RS models had cylinder deactivation, but the 2020 models step it up a notch with mild hybrid technology that recovers energy and stores it in a 48V battery. You're going to see the same 600 horsepower setup in the RS Q8 too, probably next month.

Anyway, we think Audi is taking things quite seriously in the design department. The only elements that are kept the same as on the conventional models are the front doors and roof. Everything else is muscular and angry-looking. Also, Audi is now offering cool carbon-fiber trim and satin paint, just like its rivals.

Prices have just been announced, and the RS6 Avant starts from €117,500 while the RS7 is worth €121,000. That's almost 50% more than the S6 and S7, but you're getting that much more power too.
