Mazda is aiming really high with the new, third-generation 2014 Mazda6 and, since we like bold approaches, we recently took the vehicle for a spin. The biggest news under the bonnet is a diesel that promises to be some sort of Santa Clause, offering fuel efficiency benefits without the refinement drawbacks, so this is the one we’ve selected. Don’t worry, the engine is coming to the US later this year.

All the elements of the car come together and make you simply want to drive it some more. The 175 hp 2.2-liter Skyactiv diesel kept its promise and the rest of the car sustained the engine in leaving a positive impression.

Wait, we’ve just seen a nice road ahead. We’re going to test this new route and meanwhile you can check out our 2014 Mazda6 test drive.
