Initially scheduled to arrive in the United States for the 2014 model year, the Mercedes-Benz ML250 BlueTec’s arrival over the Pond was delayed indefinitely.
According to Car and Driver, the German company offered no explanation for the delay but it’s believed that the automaker is happy with the success the ML350 BlueTec version is experiencing on the American market. However, the report claims the ML250 could be shipped stateside a year later, as a 2015 model.
Powered by the 2.1-liter diesel engine also fitted in the GLK250, the ML250 BlueTec boasts 200 HP and 369 lb-ft of torque while returning estimated 24 mpg city and 33 mpg highway. Equipped with the 4Matic all-wheel drive system as standard, the four-cylinder diesel was supposed to go on sale from $38,590 plus a $905 destination and handling fee.
