SEAT has debuted the production for the all-new Leon, which we got to meet at the Paris Motor Show last month. For now, the carmaker only offers the five-door hatchback, but by 2014 the Leon range will also include a three-door model (you can see the latest spyshots here) and an estate model.
The new Leon comes to life via SEAT’s Martorell plant in Spain, keeping 1,600 jobs alive on the production live, as well as an extra 6,000 for the supply chain. For the new car, SEAT has increased productivity by 10 percent.
“The 800 million euros investment in the new Leon consolidates our leadership position as Spain’s number one industrial investor in R&D. The Leon, together with the Ibiza, represents the very essence of SEAT. It is a vehicle that projects strength, and exudes precision and quality,” Dr Andreas Tostmann, Seat executive vice president for production, said.
