Ken Block and Vaughn Gittin Battle in Focus ST and Golf GTI

Last time we compared the Golf GTI with a Ford Focus ST, the hardcore Volkswagen fans came bearing hate messages. So maybe Ken Block and Vaughn Gittin Jr. will have an easier time comparing the two hot hatchbacks.
The two pro drivers were asked (by Ford) to play neighbors and test out the new Focus ST against the VW GTI in an abandoned housing black. Ken gets to pick and he gets the Focus.

In a straight line, the 50 or so hp the Focus has over the GTI means it has the legs on its rival. Thanks to shorter steering ratios, the Ford also blitzed the slalom and also has more torque to pull it off the line.

It’s all fun and games, but it also shows Ford has a well sorted basic hatchback on its hands. But will America really buy it?
