2013 Renault Clio RS Rendering

2013 Renault Clio RS 1 photo
The first Clio RS is the king of hot superminis in our book. It’s iconic three-door body shell and 2.0-liter engine are its trademarks that came into existence in 1999 when Renaultsport added wider arches, different bumpers, side skirts and 15 inch OZ alloy wheels to the Clio II.
The engine first had an output of 169 PS. This was then upgraded to 178 PS in the case of the Clio RS 182, which has twin exit exhaust tail pipes, a 4-2-1 manifold and a high flow 200 cell sports catalytic converter.

The current generation started life based on the Clio III and first had 197 PS, which has boosted to 200 PS with the facelift. We recently drove this car and found it to be a unique blend of style and performance with the Gordini package.

These were all brilliant cars in their time, but the new Clio RS will move the game in a completely different direction. Like the regular Clio, this will be available exclusively as a five-door. What’s more, the 2.0-liter seems to have been replaced by a new 1.6-liter turbo engine that likely produces 210 PS.

This is the very first rendering of the new Clio RS, created by PS-Garage using yesterday’s photos as a base. The car has been lowered and also received bigger wheels and an aero kit, including that famous F1-style wing.

At the back, the circular twin exhausts have been replaced by two trapezoidal ones.
