2013 Acura RDX Presentation Video from Detroit

Acura had three brand new products to show to the media and what’s left of their fan base at the 2012 NAIAS in Detroit. But before speaking about the prototype for the new RDX crossover, Acura Vice President and General Manager Jeff Conrad interestingly admitted that 2011 was one of their worst years ever in the US.
Getting back to the RDX, this comes with fresh styling inside and out. With the 2013 model, it’s clear that Acura is diluting its strangeness in favor a more mainstream approach.

However, it’s under the hood that the real change takes place. The current four-cylinder turbocharged engine has been replaced not with a smaller unit but with a 3.5-liter V6 that produces 273 horsepower. They’ve done this because the newer engine is more efficient and more powerful, by 33 hp in fact. For 2013, the RDX also gets a fresh 6-speed auto with lock-up torque converter and a lighter AWD system.
