The new crossover from Acura is almost finished now, as the Honda division has revealed the RDX in prototype form at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. Basically, the five-seater model is ready to enter the market this spring, but there might be a few extra touches necessary before it’s ready for North American consumption.
The second generation RDX is fitted with a 3.5-liter V6 capable of delivering 273 horsepower, which is 33 more than the old version. A new six-sped automatic and a lighter AWD system are also responsible for expected economy figures of 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.
The RDX will also be offered with Pandora Internet radio, smart entry keyless access system and a pushbutton start system.
"As you can see we're evolving the RDX from a sporty, compact SUV to a more formal look with a longer, sculpted hood and styling that is more elegant and sophisticated to match our philosophy of timeless, beautiful design," said Acura's Assistant Vice President of Product Planning, Vicki Poponi.
