Ask the new generation of petrolheads what the Lightning moniker means for Ford, and they will immediately point to the electric pickup. However, true enthusiasts know that it used to be all about high-riding performance back in the day.
Developed by the car brand’s Special Vehicle Division (SVT), the Ford F-150 SVT Lightning was a performance version of the regular pickup. It was made in the ninth and tenth generations of the F-150, featuring revised styling on the outside, a few upgrades in the cabin, and multiple goodies beneath the skin and under the hood.

Does this model still get your heart racing? If you said yes, then you may want to pay attention to the example pictured in the gallery, as it is for sale and does not cost an arm and a leg. Made in 2000, which places it in the tenth-generation F-150, it has a white exterior on top of the gray cabin, blending modern-classic looks with V8 firepower.

It packs a supercharged 5.4-liter engine that used to kick out 360 hp (365 ps/269 kW) and 440 lb-ft (597 Nm) of torque back in the day. Hooked up to an automatic transmission, the lump is said to have been tuned on the pictured Ford F-150 SVT Lightning. The ad mentions improved throttle response and enhanced power delivery without revealing any numbers.

Well, the vendor does reveal some numbers, albeit not the thrust and output. The vehicle has clocked just under 90,000 miles (less than 144,800 km), and that's not bad at all for a car that left the assembly line more than two decades ago, especially one that does not have any blue blood running through its veins.

Capable of delivering on the V8 front as well as the workhorse one, this 2000 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning is just about ready to hit the road again. Judging by the pictures shared on Garage Kept Motors, it should be a trusty companion for years to come. In fact, it only needs a signature on the papers from its future owner, who will have to transfer $24,900 to make it theirs.

A quick look on Ford's US official website reveals that you could land a new Maverick unibody pickup from $23,400 before destination. For the bigger Ranger, interested parties will have to cough up north of $32,565, which is the MSRP of the base flavor, whereas the modern F-150 starts at $34,585.

As a result, the asking price of this Ford F-150 SVT Lightning does not sound bad at all. So, if you had a thing for pickups and enough money, would you go for it in a heartbeat or choose something more modern instead, like the Maverick, Raptor, or F-150?
