APRILIA Tuono 1000 R (2006-2007) Specs, Performance & Photos

The Aprilia Tuono 1000 was a naked bike produced by Aprilia in 2002. It was based on the Aprilia RSV Mille. In addition, it shared the same engine, transmission, frame, and some of the suspension components with the RSV 1000 R superbike.

In 2006, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer launched the Aprilia Tuono 1000 R, a second-generation machine based on the 2004-2009 Aprilia RSV 1000 R.

One technical difference between the two models was that the RSV 1000 R had a compression, preload-adjustable, and rebound-damping rear shock, while the Tuono 1000 R had only preload-adjustable and rebound damping.

This difference made it less usable on the track, but since their parts were interchangeable, it shouldn't stop anyone from using the Tuono on the track by swapping the rear shock. Besides that, other differences were purely cosmetic.

The bikes manufactured between 2006 and 2010 were offered in the standard Tuono 1000 R version based on the RSV 1000 R and Tuono 1000 R Factory, Aprilia's flagship model.

In the performance department, the 2006 Aprilia Tuono 1000 R had its soul brought to life by a 998cc four-stroke V-twin liquid-cooled engine installed underneath the fuel tank, delivering an output power of 126 hp at 9,500 rpm and 100 Nm (74 lb-ft) torque at 7,250 rpm.
