In 2009, the Italian motorcycle maker released the Aprilia Sportcity Cube 300, a somewhat maxi-scooter solution for those riders searching for a highway-worthy two-wheeler, more capable than its smaller siblings, with more power and a different road stance.

The scooter debuted in 2008 when the classic one was restyled and renamed Sportcity Cube. It received the new Piaggio 300ie engine that replaced the previous 250cc unit. It delivered the same power and torque but with improved recovery values.

It packed standard features such as a dual headlight system, a small cowl mounted on the handlebar with a small wind deflector, a one-piece, two-up seat with pillion grab rails, a luggage rack, and six-spoke aluminum wheels.

The scooter was built around a single-beam front and a double-cradle tubular steel frame. The suspension system comprised a telescopic fork on the front with 100 mm of travel and dual shock absorbers on the rear with adjustable preload and 80 mm of travel.

The braking power was achieved by a 260 mm brake disc mounted on the front wheel and engaged by a hydraulic caliper and a 220 mm rotor on the rear controlled by a hydraulic caliper.

As for the power figures, the 2009 Aprilia Sportcity Cube 300 took its muscles from a 278cc four-stroke single-cylinder engine, boasting 22 hp at 8,000 rpm and 22 Nm (16 lb-ft) torque at 6,500 rpm.
