APRILIA RST 1000 Futura (2002-2003) Specs, Performance & Photos

In 2002, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer launched the Aprilia RST 1000 Futura, a sport-touring motorcycle with the same package as the previous model, featuring the same technical, visual, and performance specifications without any modifications.

The Aprilia RST 1000 Futura was a sport-touring bike made by Aprilia between 2001 and 2004. The bike was powered by a V-twin four-stroke liquid-cooled engine with a fuel injection system, broadly similar to the one used on the Aprilia SL1000 Falco.

The bike was intended to compete with the similarly styled Honda VFR800 model. Unfortunately, the bike's poor sales and Aprilia's bad financial status led to the bike's demise in 2003, remaining in the range until 2005.

The bike's angular appearance was complemented by standard fittings, such as a full fairing, a large windscreen, a one-piece dual seat with passenger grab handles, a single-sided swingarm, and five double-spoke aluminum wheels.

The motorcycle was manufactured around a twin-spar aluminum with a 43 mm upside-down adjustable Showa fork on the front with 120 mm wheel travel. It was assisted by an adjustable shock absorber on the rear, which acted as a suspension system.

In the performance department, the 2002 Aprilia RST Futura had installed a 998cc four-stroke liquid-cooled V-twin engine underneath its armor, delivering an output power of 113 hp at 9,250 rpm and 96 Nm (71 lb-ft) torque at 7,250 rpm.
