Before F1 news became dominated by stories of Michael Schumacher's skiing accident, Infiniti had a little something to celebrate and announced they would dedicate a new concept car to the gods of victory.
Called the Q50 Eau Rouge, this concept is actually a thinly veiled limited production car based on their one and only brand new car, the Q50 compact executive cruiser/bruiser. We've seen teasers with various details, but never the whole thing. Lo and behold, here's the car in its full glory just days before we get to check it out at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 13.
Infiniti strongly reinforces that only the roof and door panels have been kept intact, the rest being beefed-up or hunkered-down. A body kit that includes front and rear diffusers, side skirts and sill skirts has been fashioned specifically for this car.
The sad news is it only has a 3.7-liter V6 engine, the biggest one currently available with the car. So no real BMW M3 rival from Infiniti this year. However, we have little doubt the Eau Rouge will be put into production. They did the same scheme to celebrate the 2012 title, with a V8-powered FX sports SUV called the "Vettel Edition". They made 150 of those and asked tome very serious money for it.
