Japanese luxury automaker Infiniti is not shy about what the Q50 is. It's their coolest, most powerful, best looking compact executive car ever. They never miss an opportunity to show off its supposed superiority to other models in its class.
At January's 2014 Detroit Auto Show, that opportunity comes thanks to German F1 ace Sebastian Vettel and the Red Bull Racing team. A special F1-inspired concept will be made out of the Q50's poised body, and was revealed today.

As you can see, the concept called Q50 Eau Rouge is not a fanciful concept. The lines are as simple and clean as BMW's M4 performance coupe, which is why we think this concept actually previews a limited production model.

To celebrate their F1 2012 title, Infiniti built the FX Vettel Edition, a powerful and sporty SUV with lots of extra goodies. We think it's obvious the Eau Rouge has the same sort of kit, with extra intakes, blacked out grille and headlights, added LED fog light bars and more. French for Red Water, Eau Rouge has a sexy red paintjob, obviously a reference to the two clashing bulls on the energy drink so associated to motorsports these days.

The Eau Rouge piece on the Spa-Francorchamps track in Belgium may also have something to do with this...

“Performance is a key pillar of Infiniti's DNA, and this car expresses a deepened design interpretation of that. The Q50, with an abundance of technologies, provides a great basis for an extreme performance version, embodied in the design of Q50 Eau Rouge,” said Alfonso Albaisa, Infiniti's Executive Design Director.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
