It starts to feel like everything is becoming a monthly payment. But we shouldn't dismiss a new idea before giving it a chance to prove it can work well for entrepreneurs and customers. Would you pay for a pass that guarantees special access to a car wash? Let's discover the answer together.
If there's something that the US is well known for, it is the make-it-by-yourself mentality. "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps" is something Americans hear from a very young age. That's not so common in other parts of the world.

Some may consider this habit problematic or a bit insensitive. However, the US wouldn't have attracted so much foreign talent and spawned so many successful companies if it weren't for this native entrepreneurial spirit. Tens of millions of people from around the globe invest monthly in various US financial instruments because they recognize America as the bedrock of innovation and the home of successful capitalism.

But starting a business doesn't have to be complicated. A great example in this regard is American singer and songwriter Jason Derulo. The man said a few months ago that he makes do with 13 sources of income. However, the most profitable endeavor is Rocket Carwash.

Such a venture isn't too complicated to get it going. You need around $300,000 to $500,000 for a touchless car wash with multiple bays, excluding the value of the land. Estimates from various franchises claim a yearly post-tax profit of $100,000 is possible.

It's a very smart investment, though! If you own and do not rent the land on which the car wash is placed, you stand to make some money while the plot appreciates in value. It's a double win! That could be what prompted Derulo to spend money on Rocket Carwash.

His real role is unclear because public records show another entrepreneur and City+ Ventures own the business. But the artist said earlier this year that his "not-so-sexy" auto wash business is valuable and could become a market disruptor. He might be a slightly confused but very satisfied investor.

When writing, Rocket Carwash can be found in California, Texas, Florida, Utah, Nebraska, Iowa, and Pennsylvania. The company offers "unlimited" monthly subscription plans ranging from $23.99 to $49.99. You can add multiple services to your plan, but what's guaranteed is that you can visit the car wash as often as you desire. We couldn't find the membership agreement, so you would better read everything (including the fine print!) if you sign up!

These types of memberships aren't a novelty, but they're becoming increasingly more common. Subscriptions guarantee solid revenue for businesses. So, it's not surprising that they want you to budget a fixed monthly expense for something that you possibly used only once in a while beforehand.

A subscription also allows businesses to hike the prices for one-time customers, which can be a great catalyst for converting them into recurring buyers. You're more prone to pay for a subscription if it looks cheaper.

However, should you spend your hard-earned cash on such a subscription? $23.99 per month before tax might not sound like much at first. But a yearly minimum expense of $287.88 might not look too great when you think about it a tad bit more. Keep in mind that you'll find car washes charging $3 or $5 per visit for a touchless flush and rinse.

We don't even have to touch the tipping part to realize that subscribing to a car wash makes sense only if you visit that place more than four or five times per month. Unless you live in a place with many dirt roads, nobody needs to wash their vehicle so often. On top of that, it's not like Jason Derulo will perform live while your car is cleaned.

However, don't hesitate to share your take with us if you think our assessment isn't right. We'd love to hear your thoughts.

Car shows on TV and his father's Fiat Tempra may have been Florin's early influences, but nowadays he favors different things, like the power of an F-150 Raptor. He'll never be able to ignore the shape of a Ferrari though, especially a yellow one.
