The widebody community doesn't reach toys with Lotus badges on them too often. Well, this is one of the exceptions, albeit with this heavily modded Exige coming in the form of a rendering.
One might be tempted to say that the form follows function philosophy of Lotus sportscars is gone. And that would be a pity, since, having been lucky enough to slip behind the wheel of an Exige about a decade ago, I'm well aware of the kind of man-machine connection these scale-friendly British machines can create.

But what if the added width and that serious airflow manipulation hardware would be required by some newly-found oily bits? Yes, this formula sounds familiar, since we've all seen it at work on the Hennessey Venom GT. So, who knows? Perhaps this body conceals some sort of twin-turbo V8 swap. Even so, with that still-compact wheelbase, which is unlike that of the said American monster, the low-speed agility would have frightening effects once the speedometer needle reaches more serious values.

As for the can't-fit-a-smartphone-under-the-car ride height, you should know this isn't a static setup. So the driver should have no trouble raising the thing via the air suspension.

So, even though this might not seem obvious, one could use this WB, bagged Lotus Exige on the street, even though the thing might not be the perfect daily driver.

In fact, digital artist Khyzyl Saleem, who is responsible for this work, delivers such virtual contraptions on a regular basis.

Now, in case you're wondering about a connection to the real world that doesn't involve the said Texan specialist, this awaits you in the second and third Instagram posts below.

That's where you'll find football player Michael-Angelo Malushi's hybrid Exige and by that I'm referring to a mix between the street car and the GT3 racer.
