When Tesla announced that the Cybertruck would eventually become a mass-produced all-electric vehicle, many people laughed at the idea. Virtually nobody wanted to go outside the norm. Even newcomers like Rivian stuck to the script. It designed a battery-electric pickup truck that looked like what was already on the market, apart from the innovative gear tunnel and the lighting signature. But Tesla was right about going from computers to triangles on wheels.
The angular appearance inspired many around the world to create copies that more or less tried to follow the Tesla recipe. One of the most interesting such attempts came from a wood sculptor who was also familiar with batteries, motors, and welding.

However, others have tried to make a Cybertruck as well - sort of. Some created toys, while others attempted to recreate the real deal as best as they could. Even Tesla itself introduced a smaller version of the pickup truck. The world's most valuable automaker wanted to give kids the chance to ride by themselves. It did so at quite the price, though!

But an unexpected effort to advance this EV's popularity comes all the way from Ukraine. Someone started building a Cybertruck out of metal, plastic, and parts from salvage cars. Although much smaller than the real thing, it does look quite astonishingly real.

At first glance, it misses side mirrors, headlights, door handles, a charge port, and the light bar (although the real thing doesn't have it as well). The project looks like it's abandoned in a garage area, but that could also be an indication of early work. Parts are lying around the experiment, which could indicate that the creator(s) have not been done yet.

The video below also shows that the frame is already dealing with rust, so this could be someone's pet project. Nonetheless, it would be cool to see it come to fruition.

But what all these attempts at making the Cybertruck without Tesla's tooling and manpower prove is that the automaker was right to go on this route. The EV maker brought the world a pickup truck that looks like nothing else on the road and has some very interesting features. The fact that it's bullet-resistant alone is fascinating for most Americans.

Add the rock-proof glass, the cabin that pressurizes, the tonneau cover that almost seals the bed, the steer-by-wire, and the 800V battery architecture, and what you get is a testbed for the future. The Cybertruck looks like the next-gen EV, but what it is in reality is a display of what's to come. We're in for a ride. As are the creators of this cute thing you'll see in this video. They might put Ukraine on the map for a new reason.

Car shows on TV and his father's Fiat Tempra may have been Florin's early influences, but nowadays he favors different things, like the power of an F-150 Raptor. He'll never be able to ignore the shape of a Ferrari though, especially a yellow one.
