If you missed the subtitle, you are about to watch a battle between the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350, two great muscle cars that offer different performances.
First things first, we've got to remind you that the Camaro ZL1 received a refresh since this iteration came out, supposedly some six to eight years ago, and in the meantime, the bowtie brand sounded the death knell for the eighth generation, with no direct successor on the horizon.

Yes, you read that right: the Camaro story ended last month when the final copy rolled off the line. Chevy promises the nameplate will return from the dead, yet it refuses to release additional details about it. Thus, we don't know when their new muscle car will come out, assuming it will still be a rival to the likes of the Ford Mustang and the next Dodge Charger.

As for the firepower of this Camaro ZL1, it is supplied by a V8. The supercharged lump has a 6.2-liter displacement and boasts a supercharger for improved oomph, resulting in 650 horsepower delivered to the wheels every time the driver abuses the throttle. The 0-60 mph (0-97 kph) acceleration takes a little over three and a half seconds, and it is a ten-second car on a good day.

We've seen some ultra-fast examples over the years, and the same goes for its ad-hoc challenger on that day, the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350. Without any outside intervention, the Blue Oval's model is some two seconds slower down the quarter mile compared to the Camaro ZL1. It is also around one second slower to sixty miles per hour and uses a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 that develops 526 horsepower.

Mind you, one does not have to be addicted to petrol fumes to tell that the balance tilts in favor of the Chevrolet, assuming that none of them were tuned. The Camaro ZL1 is faster to sixty and can handle the quarter mile quicker than the Mustang Shelby GT350. Thus, normally, it would be the bowtie brand’s machine that would get our money if we were to bet on a 1/4-mile race between the two.

But is that really how things pan out in the real world? Coming to answer this question is Wheels on YouTube with a short video that shows a direct battle between the two said models. The drag race was recorded at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, allegedly not long ago, and it is the first head-to-head battle depicted in the video shared below, right after the short jump.

So, do you think the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 asserted dominance over the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 or not? There is only one way to find out.
