211 mph or 340 km/h. These days, there are more ways than ever to hit this kind of speed with a car wrapped around you. Nonetheless, few get as emotional as the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta in the process and we are here to show you just how the Italian grand tourer does its speedy business.
For this, we shall travel to Brazil, the Aerodromo de Gaviao Peixoto to be more precise. This is where an F12 Berlinetta, which is 100 percent stock, engages in a series of drag races.

At a certain point, the V12 Prancing Horse battles it out with a 997-generation Porsche 911 Turbo, wich, judging by its zing, appears to have been modified. The footage takes us through all the superb acceleration phases of this Ferrari. We said this when we reviewed the F12 Berlinetta and we’ll say it again - this baby wasn’t gifted with too much power, as some state, it’s got just the right amount of muscle feeding its rear axle.

Maranello’s official figures tell us that, in 3.1 seconds from the controlled launch, which is as spectacular as that of a RWD car can be, the Berlinetta hits 62 mph (100 km/h). The driver keeps squashing the throttle as if there’s a lit cigarette underneath and, also according to the official data, 5.4 seconds later, the 124 mph (200 km/h) mark arrives.

At this point, the F12 develops 271 lbs (123 kg) of downforce and, as we felt during our time spent together, feels as natural as a baby in his mother’s arms. The aural experience, mixes the characteristic Prancing Horse V12 scream and, at lower speeds when this is still audible, the massive airboxes up front feeding the unit.

Notice how the driver prepares himself for every paddle-aided gearshift en route to the 207 mph (334 km/h) speed he pushes the F12 to. What happens after he makes the final gear change shows just how dramatic the aerodynamic resistance is when you’re playing in the 2xx mph zone - the footage shows the mighty V12 fighting the wind resistance.
