Remember how we talked about the Australians celebrating New Year via a massive burnout involving no less than 103 cars? We are now back on the topic, since we want to get up close and personal with the most muscular vehicle at the event, a 2,000 hp Holden.
The Holden Torana in question is a crowd favorite, having written Summernats history - while this year the Yellow madness was the first car in the history of the event to break the 2,000 rear-wheel horsepower mark, after it has destroyed another engine last year for the fun of it.

The muscle comes from a 439 ci Chevy Big Block which, to be more precise, delivers 2,083 RWHP thanks to a 114mm GCG turbo. At the 2015 Summernats this Holden was having tons of fun until that turbo decided to give up.

The car was on the dyno, when the turbine wheel... left the scene via the six-inch dump pipe, with the unfortunate event taking place at 7,200 rpm. In case you were wondering, the V8 has a peak rpm of 8,500.

Still, the engine itself wasn’t affected by the problem. In fact, the turbine was fixed in the same day, with the car resuming its tire-melting business.

You can see the turbine-smoking event in the two clips below, which obviously includes a rather painful soundtrack. However, we have to understand cars like this use treat such hardware as consumables.
