We had already seen the all-new Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet, but the US-spec version of the car had not been shown yet. Well, now it has been revealed at the 2012 Los Angeles International Auto Show, along with official and comprehensive pricing information, for the US market.
It will be available with a choice of three engines, a 2.5-liter unit with 170 hp, VW’s familiar 2.0-liter TDI with 140 and a range-topping 2.0-liter turbo unit, with 200 hp - the engine from the MK V Golf GTI. The latter is also available with a six-speed dual-clutch DSG gearbox.

In the US, its main rivals are the Mini Cooper Convertible, as well as the Fiat 500C - it starts off at $24,995 for the base 2.5-liter-engined car, while the diesel-engined version costs from $27,895, rising to $32,395 for the range topping version, which comes loaded with kit, including a full-leather-clad interior (steering wheel, shifter, dashboard and door trims), sports seats, touchscreen infotainment system coupled to a high-end audio setup, 18-inch alloys and an auxiliary instrument cluster.
